Nitro is an embodiment of a true versatile dog. Her drive and passion for finding upland birds will leave you awe struck as you watch her effortlessly and gracefully work the field. Her keen nose will get her honed in and locked on point on a hunkered down bird in no time. Need to track down a injured bird? no problem she will methodically follow that bird a mile if needed until she pins it down or catches it and brings the injured quarry back to you. Waterfowl hunting she will similarly swim and chase down crippled game and retrieve them back to the blind. Nitro’s love of water is demonstrated by her constant desire to get out and swim in the lake when no bumper or game is available to retrieve.

All this drive and desire to hunt is tempered by her willingness to please and work with you. She thrives on affirmation of a job well done and often surprises me at how quick a study she is. Clearly the genetics of her Parents/Grand Parents have been carried on, with 4 NAVHDA Versatile Champions in her pedigree(VC Thunderhill’s Dakota Belle, VC Warren II Wissower Klinken, VC Ken Vospet, and VC Thunderhill’s Echo), along with the German import genetics of the Wissower Klinken kennel.

In the home Nitro is calm and well mannered. She was socialized early on with our two cats so that she learned these were not game to be hunted or retrieved, but members of the family. When desiring to get your attention she will often go to her toy bin and pick up a chew toy and bring it to you. She takes great pride in carrying objects around, whether in the house or out in the yard.
